In Israel, the political landscape is heating up ahead of the upcoming elections, with parties launching vigorous campaigns weeks before submitting their final candidate lists. Notably, the ruling right-wing coalition leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, are exploiting the oppression, repression, and violence against Palestinians as political leverage.
Netanyahu’s campaign is gaining traction with AI-generated videos, which not only energize right-wing supporters but also attack political rivals. In a recent video, Netanyahu portrayed his main rival, Benny Gantz of the centrist Blue and White party, as a “Trojan Horse” for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the Israeli left.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon is focusing a significant portion of his campaign on illegal settlement expansion in the West Bank. He has been releasing videos highlighting his role in the so-called “revolution” of settlement growth under his watch.
However, the most controversial campaign is being led by National Security Minister Gilad Erdan. He regularly publishes videos on social media showing Palestinian homes being demolished and Palestinian prisoners being abused.
Recently, Erdan shared an AI-generated video depicting a conveyor belt transporting Palestinian prisoners from a camp to their deaths in an Israeli prison. After facing widespread criticism, he removed the video. However, it had already been viewed and downloaded thousands of times.
As the October 27 election approaches, competition among right-wing parties is intensifying. Netanyahu is attempting to unite the right-wing parties under one banner to prevent votes from being split, which could weaken his chances of maintaining power.
In this intense rivalry, hardline right-wing leaders are promising an even tougher stance against Palestinians. Proposals to expel Palestinians from Gaza have resurfaced, with Netanyahu’s allies publicly endorsing such plans.
